Consists of one science – DISC.

The first science is known as DISC. DISC is an acronym that stands for 4 different behavioral styles. Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance. This is NOT a personality style but a behavioral style that others can clearly see by observing. Are they extroverted or introverted? Do they prefer to work with people or tasks? Do they make quick decisions or need time to think it over? DISC shows you “how” people behave. When you line up a person’s behavioral style with the appropriate career, they will excel at their job!
You will find other companies who sell DISC assessments as well. You will often hear them talk in terms of “highs” and “lows”. For example, a High D behavioral style or a Low D behavioral style. We still have these graphs in our assessments.
However, our assessment is transitioning away from the highs and lows, and moving towards a continuum with descriptive words. Now a High D is called a Direct person and a Low D is a Reflective person. These descriptive words makes it easier to understand how the person behaves.
This single DISC science is where our competitors normally stop. However, by combining it with the 2 additional sciences below, we gain a deeper insight into each person and how to best utilize their strengths.
The motivators and driving forces are the second science. They are the underlying things that “drive” us towards action. There are 6 motivators and they cover the areas of knowledge, utility, surroundings, others, power, and methodologies.
Within each motivator, there are 2 ends of the continuum which gives us the 12 driving forces. Depending upon which end of the continuum you align with, determines what “drives” you. For example, within the knowledge motivator, you could either be driven to acquire knowledge simply because you love to learn OR you are driven to only acquire knowledge when you need it for a specific reason.
When a person’s “driver” is being met, they will feel rewarded. If a person can line up their driving force with their career, then they will feel rewarded at the end of the day. If not, then they will seek to find that fulfillment else where.
The DNA skills, also called job competencies, is the third science. They are the personal skills that a person has developed on the job. Things like conflict management, customer focus, project management, teamwork, decision making, flexibility, goal orientation and interpersonal skills. There are a total of 25 skills that are measured in the assessment.
Knowing the skills that a person brings to the job will help you maximize their strongest skills for high performance. It will also give you an idea if any type of training might be needed. A person can improve in these skills if they are teachable and if you have the time to train them.
